Lucinda Rogers: On Gentrification

28 October 2017 – 25 March 2018
Exhibited at South Gallery, House of Illustration

Drawings from Ridley Road Market.

Our fourth commissioned exhibition featured Lucinda Rogers’ observational drawings of the rapidly gentrifying area around Ridley Road Market.

Rogers draws directly from life, capturing intimate details and broad views of cities around the world. This commission explored the relationship between old and new, focusing on the 200 year-old East London market and a new block of luxury flats under construction.

House of Illustration is the only UK gallery commissioning illustration for public display.

Illustration of an outdoor market, clothes and folded fabric is on display on the nearest stall.
