Lauren Child's Dolls' House

South Gallery, House of Illustration
16 October 2015 – 17 January 2016

Lauren Child’s hand-crafted doll's house

This exhibition showed Child’s recently completed dolls’ house to the public for the first time. It was exhibited alongside original 3D miniature sets for the critically acclaimed The Princess and the Pea.

Bestselling author and illustrator Lauren Child has been working on her own dolls’ house for 30 years. The miniature construction techniques she learned as a child continue to inform her illustration practice today.

The exhibition explored the way that Child’s inimitable collage techniques for series such as Charlie and Lola reference the experience of playing with and making her own dolls’ house.
